Description

Dusty is sold, but we have more on our NEW website at zgcurlies.com
This is Dusty! He is a bay minimal tobiano, dominant curly Missouri Fox Trotter and is hypo-allergenic for those people with allergies to horses. He will have black on his legs above the white when he sheds his baby coat with a long mane and tail for a tri-color look. His dam and sire both have high endurance on the trails etc. They are excellent examples of the breed for those who love to trail ride through the mountains and valleys. Both his parents are very sure footed, athletic and naturally gaited. His dam never wants to quit on the trails. She also recovers sooner than all the other horses after hard riding and then expresses her desire to keep on going! Dusty will make a wonderful riding gelding or a great sire for your future curly foals. He has one copy of the curly gene and therefore can produce curly foals 50% of the time unless your mare is also curly, then it is a much higher chance of curls in your foals. Dusty should mature from 15 to 15.1 hands tall.
Dusty has had tons of attention since birth and he is learning all the lessons we usually teach our foals. He is younger than the rest, so Dusty will be ready to go to his new home in November. There is a short clip of Dusty gaiting below. We will have more videos soon.
We believe that all horses should be as prepared as possible for their age when they go to their new home. For the foals, we lay them down and desensitize them at birth, teach all our foals to lead, back, pick up feet, load into and back out of a trailer, be gently flogged with a rope and whip Clinton Anderson style, be accepting of wormer (by putting fingers and the wormer stick in their mouth without the actual med) etc. They all get used to saddle pads and bareback pads, go on many walks with mom around our farm with tons of scary farm equipment and general farm trash, get ponied down roads, through ditches on concrete under building roofs etc. to desensitize them and prepare them for the real world. We find that they do much better if they have a solid base of being worked with before they leave for their new home.
I can get anything else you need in video or photos or come see him in person! : ) We have full genetic testing done on Dusty including color, curly gene, gait gene, disease screening etc. We also have papers completed in the MFTHBA. Dusty can also be registered in the ICHO for double registration. Please contact us for more information.
The pictures at the end are Dusty’s dam and sire. We are building a new website, but here is our old one:
